Maternity and Child Photography

 

I specialize in mainly child photography, excluding newborn photography (though it is a service I offer, I do not photograph newborns often). I find myself working with mostly 1-5 year olds and honestly it is a GREAT age to work with. They are spunky, outgoing- for the most part, of course. They are full of life and energy and are so completely innocent. I also love this age because they do not require much "posing". It's an age range that is typically caught in the moment. I mean let's face it- you CANNOT tell a 2 year old little boy to stand with his back against the wall, with his thumbs in his pocket and to smile. It just doesn't work. I love chasing after them and catching their personalities. Which is exactly why I love working outdoors. They have room to roam and explore and this doesn't bother me in the least. If you've never had a session with me before, you find out very quickly that I just go with the flow with young ones. It may be stressful for you as a parent to just see your child kind of run free... But I promise it makes for the BEST, most genuine smiles and moments. :)

 

Maternity sessions are another story completely. They are beautiful and intimate. You're welcoming a new life into the world and I try to capture that memory the best I can. Not all photos are of just you looking at the camera and smiling. You still interact with your child, if that makes sense!! I think pregnant women are AMAZINGLY beautiful and love working with them in all scenarios- including boudoir and other gorgeous settings.
